Do you deliver to PO boxes or military addresses?

Yes. International Bridge delivers to PO boxes and to all three categories of military mail addresses: APO, FPO, and DPO. These destinations are built into our standard shipping network.

PO box delivery

Because IB uses USPS for final-mile delivery on every shipment, PO box delivery is fully supported across all U.S. destinations. This includes:

  • PO boxes in the continental U.S.
  • PO boxes in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, and military addresses
  • Rural community PO boxes where street delivery is not available

Some addresses, particularly in remote areas of Alaska and other non-continental destinations, require PO box delivery rather than street delivery. If you're not sure whether your address can receive packages at a street address, your local Post Office can confirm.

Military address delivery: APO, FPO, and DPO

International Bridge delivers to all three categories of military mail addresses:

  • APO (Army Post Office): Used by U.S. Army and Air Force personnel stationed overseas or at domestic military bases
  • FPO (Fleet Post Office): Used by U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel, including those aboard ships at sea
  • DPO (Diplomatic Post Office): Used by U.S. government employees and diplomats at overseas embassies and missions

These addresses use a domestic U.S. ZIP code format and are processed through the USPS military mail system, which means they ship as domestic parcels, no international customs forms required in most cases.

U.S. Navy vessels

We also deliver to U.S. Navy vessels via FPO addresses. Mail destined for ships at sea is routed through the naval mail network and delivered when the vessel is in port or through shipboard mail handling. Transit times for vessel deliveries can vary depending on the ship's deployment schedule.

How to format a military address correctly

Military addresses follow a specific format that differs from standard U.S. addresses:

  • Recipient name and unit (e.g., John Smith, Unit 12345, Box 6789)
  • APO / FPO / DPO designation (in place of the city field)
  • Two-letter state code: AE (Armed Forces Europe, Middle East, Canada, and Africa), AP (Armed Forces Pacific), or AA (Armed Forces Americas)
  • ZIP code assigned to the APO/FPO/DPO

Using the correct format, especially the right state code and ZIP, is essential for military mail to route correctly. For a full guide to military address formatting and what to expect during transit, see our APO/FPO/DPO shipping guide.
