What is SafePackage™ and what does it do?

SafePackage™ is an AI-powered customs compliance and duty collection solution developed by International Bridge. It is one of the few systems approved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a Qualified Party for duty collection and remittance on international mail — a credential that reflects both the technical rigor of the platform and its direct integration with CBP's official systems.

In practical terms, SafePackage™ automates the most complex and error-prone part of cross-border shipping: calculating what duties are owed, filing the required customs information, and remitting payments directly to CBP in real time. For postal operators, couriers, and international logistics providers, this means parcels keep moving without manual intervention, compliance gaps, or payment delays.

Why SafePackage™ matters now

On August 29, 2025, the United States ended its long-standing de minimis duty exemption. Previously, packages valued under a threshold were exempt from duties entirely. That exemption no longer applies — every package entering the U.S., regardless of value, now requires duty filing and remittance to CBP.

For many international shippers and postal operators, this change has introduced significant operational complexity. SafePackage™ was built to absorb that complexity — keeping international mail compliant and moving without requiring operators to build new customs infrastructure from scratch.

What SafePackage™ does

  • Automatically calculates duties owed on each incoming parcel based on the shipment's declared value, HS code, and country of origin
  • Files the required customs data directly with CBP in real time
  • Remits duty payments to CBP through CBP-approved channels
  • Supports multiple duty collection models: Delivery Duty Paid (DDP), Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU), and hybrid configurations
  • Adapts automatically when CBP regulations change, maintained by a team of trade and customs experts

Who SafePackage™ is built for

SafePackage™ is designed for organizations that handle inbound international mail at volume:

  • Postal operators processing international parcels under UPU or IPC frameworks
  • Couriers and express carriers with U.S.-bound international shipments
  • International logistics providers managing customs compliance across multiple origins

The platform is not a consumer-facing tool. It operates at the infrastructure level — integrating directly with operators' systems and CBP's own processing chain.

CBP-approved and already operational

SafePackage™ is fully live, having already collected and remitted tens of millions of dollars in duties across multiple global postal networks. It is trusted by operators who cannot afford compliance gaps, delays, or penalties.
